Help release 'The Palace' for Christmas 2021!

What do you do with your hundred year old cinema when you're not allowed to show films for a year?  You make one, of course!  

We, The Palace, have been a cinema since 1912 and we were a music hall before that.  We have survived two world wars and umpteen changes in technology before our doors closed because of Covid in 2020.  But we've not been idle.  During this time we have set up a production company 'Palace Films' and have recruited actors and creatives from across the North-West of England to make a Christmas feature film, set at our cinema and in Lancashire, to be released for December 2021.  Our film tells the story of our small town cinema and of some of the people who have loved it and kept it going for more than a century.  We hope that our film will be a wonderful way to come back into cinemas and celebrate the magic of the silver screen this coming Christmas.  In making it we have provided jobs for artists during this difficult time, but we still have more to do!  We have two more weeks still to film and then we need to edit it, add music, credits, subtitles and then do all the marketing needed to bring it out into the world.  'We' is me, Lara, the manager of The Palace, and my good friend Stephan Bookas, who has been working his socks off on this all year.  We don't have a big studio backing us or national money, just my personal savings and what some of you have kindly donated so far.  But we are about £10k short of having enough to reach the finishing line.  We have close to 10,000 Facebook followers for The Palace and if every one would just give a pound then we could really make this the surprise Christmas film for 2021 and give us that happy ending we are all longing for.  Your money will go to paying actors, a sound recordist, it will feed us, cover production insurance - we are not doing this because we expect this film to make us money but because we love cinema and we love OUR cinema and because we want to share its story with the world.  We'd love it if you would be a part of that and help make it happen.
