Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my story

My name is Kate Sturgess, and I would just like to share my story with you and the purpose of this go fund me

My son reggie was born suddenly at 26 weeks gestation in November 2020.

He was born unresponsive but on the 3rd attempts to resuscitate him they got a chest rise, We found our reggie was born with sepsis and was placed on a life support machine.

We spent 4 long months in Neonatal intensive care unit (Nicu) where reggie had infections, collapsed lungs, onset of blindness, chronic lung disease

And brain damage.

The care and support we received from the staff soon the unit is truly the reason how we got through the hardest 4 months of our lives.

On discharge from the unit reggie came home on continuous oxygen due to his lung condition.

Fast forward 2 years and reggie is the most happiest, strongest, clever little boy, he is still on continuous home oxygen, and the Brain damage, the extrent is still uncertain until he develops further.

We couldn’t come away from the unit and show them how thankful we were for them saving our son, so in 2021 we held a charity event at Southampton football club, where we raised £45,000.

Our second event happened in October 2022 at The Ageas Bowl, cricket ground, Southampton where we raised £18,000

All these funds have bought much needed medical equipment and other much needed items for the unit, including providing brand new baby clothing for babies that have unfortunately passed away.

Also we are currently having a revamped breast feeding room for mums on the unit, as the nurses have asked for this and believe its important mums are in a comfy relaxing setting whilst providing liquid gold (milk) for their little ones.

We have just secured the venue for the 3rd and final event, at the Harbour on 6TH hotel in Southampton which is happening on Saturday 14th October 2023.

We are asking Businesses if they could help in anyway by supporting us with this event by providing a spectacular prizes to help generate those much needed funds.
