HELP our EMMY nominated LaG Rising Stars Team

From the Rising Stars 2021 student team & LaGuardia 2021 graduates - Szymon, Jaiying, Suha, Avery, Danielle:

We come to you with this humble and exciting request - we worked on Rising Stars 2021, and have watched and loved the show every single year before that. This show has a special place in our hearts due to the incredible collaboration of students, faculty, and Parents in putting together this uniquely student-led production. This was especially prevalent in Rising Stars 2021 - producing this huge show for television and not the stage during the pandemic was incredibly difficult and required endless hours of work, but we accomplished something we are truly proud of. When the decision was made to submit Rising Stars for Emmy consideration, it felt surreal to all of us. We never would have thought our student-led production would even be considered. You can imagine our shock and excitement when it was announced our production was Emmy-nominated! We are so honored that this is being recognized at such a high level. We know well this couldn’t have been done without the help of support from the amazing LaGuardia Community.

Recently the Emmy award ceremony information was released and as college students who attended NYC public schools, we are simply unable to afford to attend the ceremony. The opportunity to attend this event would be not only extremely exciting but a way to meet professionals in the industries that we are all studying to enter. We are reaching out to the LaGuardia community for help because DOE regulations prevent the Parents Association from helping us with the costs. We understand that this is not a small request, but we would all love to attend to recognize and celebrate LaGuardia’s grit and capability, and dedication to our art even during the pandemic. Thank you for anything you can contribute to getting us to the Emmy ceremony.

Ceremony Info: Oct 8, 7 PM NY Marriott Marquis (this is also the location where LaGuardia HS usually has Prom but for our graduating class, we didn't have one so it's even more personally significant to us)

*Pls note due to Emmy awards requirements, the students will need to be accompanied by the RS adult nominees, and if the total amount is raised, their tickets will also be covered by this fundraiser.
