Help Rebuild the Palace Theatre!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to give an update on the damaged Palace Theatre wall as I know our community cares passionately about the theatre.

It’s been a super difficult summer trying to work with engineers and the city to figure out what the extent of the repair is going to be. The facia wall fell because of many years of water damage that happened before we fixed the roof that caused internal damage. Because of this, our insurance not only won’t give us any money to repair but also dropped us.

The wall is built on the city line so anything we do besides managing safety for our guests, also has to take into account the city owned sidewalk. There were several options put forth that would either shut down the theatre for a long time or cover up all the beautiful inside woodwork. The option we are working with the city currently on is building a new wall on the outside and then attaching to the current wall for strength and longevity.

There are more decisions to be made and we are trying to get to the work as soon as possible because we all know winter is not our friend to roofs and water damage. We’ve work incredibly fast to fix things and the pace of this has been painful. We want and need to make sure that the repairs we do are secure, beautiful and for the long haul. Doing this without insurance money is difficult to say the least. This week we definitly had some wins working with the city and excited to push forward this next week to get moving on this repair. But help is needed now.
