Help Randy Rosen Conquer Cancer

Donation protected
This request is written from the hearts of so many who love, support and are praying for Randy Rosen.

I am Carmel Luciak, close personal friend of Randy and his family (the recipient of these funds). They have authorized me to organize this fundraiser on their behalf. They will be added as the beneficiaries to this GoFundMe account.

In July, Randy noticed a lump in his leg that kept growing in size and became painful. After numerous tests, scans and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Stage IV angiosarcoma cancer in his leg, groin, and stomach. Angiosarcoma cancer is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that begins in the lining of blood vessels. Stage IV sarcomas are rarely curable and difficult to treat. Prognosis is 15% chance to survive 12 months. With a poor prognosis, the goal is to slow the rapid growth with an aggressive chemotherapy regimen.

This was devastating news to Randy, his wife Shalin and his boys Isaac and Raoul, but they are fighting together along with an excellent oncologist and a wonderful team at the Cross Cancer Institute and remain optimistic that things will improve as he begins his treatments.

Anyone who has had Randy as a coach for hockey or ball hockey learns very quickly that the character development they will receive as a player will far outweigh any of the skills they develop. More important than the sport, he is an incredible role model to all players and young people that he interacts with. “A coach will impact more young people in a year than the average person does in a lifetime” (Billy Graham). This is certainly the case with Randy.

Randy Rosen is the name that comes up again and again when hockey and ball hockey players reach into their memory vaults and pick at least one coach who has had a tremendous influence in their lives. He is one of those people who truly makes a positive difference everyday. He’s the type of friend and coach who will go to battle for you and support you in anyway that he can, always putting the needs of others in front of his own. He is the most loyal and humble of friends, and the coach who never forgets a player. At work, at home, at the rink, and in the community, Randy gives so much of his time and of himself to his friends, family and the players that are lucky enough to call him “Coach”. His joy, sacrifice and love for people and for the game truly is something irreplaceable. I am personally so thankful and blessed for the endless hours he has dedicated on and off the ice to our players and our community

We are devastated by the news of Randy’s diagnosis and wanted to set up a way for all those who want to give back to Randy and his family to be able to do so. This is an opportunity to give back the support that he has given to everyone around him. We want Randy to focus solely on his treatment, remaining strong and getting well. Holistic treatments alongside medical treatments will ensure his body, mind and spirit are in the best possible shape to fight this disease. He is currently going through preparation appointments getting ready to begin his chemotherapy treatments at the Cross Cancer Institute. The battle will be tough, but if anyone is up to the challenge, it is him.

With your contribution, we can take away some of the financial burdens for this amazing and well deserving man and his family. Prayers and positive thoughts are also very much appreciated.

A good coach can change a game, but a great coach can change your life.
You got this Randy! Your fight is our fight too.
