Help Quincy the Service Dog
This is Quincy, my four-year-old golden retriever and service dog. This summer, Quincy developed debilitating storm anxiety; he never really liked thunderstorms, but now he's so scared he won't leave the house to go to work if it's even raining a little—and he's a guy who normally loves his job! It's hard to explain how bad his fear becomes: he shakes, cries, paces and pants, tries to fit into my lap, and cannot be comforted—none of the usual dog sedatives are working. So, our regular vet referred us to a veterinary behavioral specialist, but there's a $350 deposit to make an initial appointment, and then $290/hour for follow-up consultation after that. I was laid off a couple of weeks ago and am living on disability insurance while I look for work; Quincy's services are invaluable to me, as without him, I wouldn't be able to teach at all. Thank you and we love you—especially Quincy, who loves everyone, and teaches me every day a better way to be in the world.
