Marie Bingle, an essential and beloved member of the community of Louisville Kentucky, underwent surgery to reconstruct her knee and received treatment for other injuries resulting from an incident that happened during a Black Lives Matter Protest on August 26th, 2020.
Marie was crossing the street on the outskirts of the protest when she was injured by a police officer who was driving at a high speed around the corner while chasing another protestor.
As she lay on the side of the road, Marie and the crowd of people who rushed to help her, were tear-gassed by other police officers who tried to break up the crowd and her bag was unnecessarily searched.
Saint Marie, as she is affectionately nicknamed, is an outreach worker, activist, and mother of three children, one of whom is the rapper and musician, Bblasian. Personally delivering up to 300 meals a day, Marie spends seven days a week feeding and aiding Louisville's houseless community, and has attended peaceful protests every night since the murder of Breonna Taylor sparked an uprising in the city in March. She also uplifts and manages local emerging artists in the city, and is an advocate for anyone whose voice is unjustly silenced. She is the first to take someone in need under her wing.
Marie is an advocate in the truest sense of the word, and now she needs y'all to give back and look out for her in her time of need.
Marie's trip to the hospital and her surgery will be expensive, and she will need support during her long recovery. We are hoping to raise $25,000 as soon as possible to scratch the surface of what this trying time will cost her.
