The Historic Prospect Hill Cemetery, the families who visit loved ones there, and the wildlife that calls the surrounding area home are under threat, and we are asking for help in our fight to preserve this important parcel of land in our community.
What Happened:
Recently, the former owner of Prospect Hill Cemetery, greedily subdivided and then sold the 52 acres of Prospect Hill Cemetery’s land to Inch&Co the day after they rezoned the land from residential low to industrial. John Inch Jr. sits on the board that approved the rezoning. Inch&Co also did not disclose their intention to build a 422,000 sq ft warehouse on this land during the rezoning process of this land.
Who is Affected:
- Family members who visit loved ones will be faced with massive trucks coming and going along with the noise and pollution warehouse operations.
- The land provided a peaceful buffer for those at rest, and helped create a reflective and meditative atmosphere to pay respects.
- The acerage provides sanctuary to deer, protected bird species, and other wildlife with rapidly shrinking space for them to roam.
- The community who calls this neighborhood home and who will now deal with heavy truck traffic that will threaten their quality of life, and created added danger children and families on walks.
What Your Donation Will Do
- Help cover the costs for lawyers and other legal actions necessary to fight the rezoning in court which could last years.
- Assist in paying for materials to get the word out to our community so they are aware of what is at stake.
- Provide protection from threats from Inc&Co who have already been verbally aggressive to our community members and children during peaceful protests.
