Hello! My name is Priscila and I'm a graduate student at The Ohio State University trying to raise money to go to the 2019 SACNAS conference.
Last year I was able to attend the meeting and present my research. It was an experience that gave me confidence in myself, allowed me to meet new great people, and connect mentors from outside my university. This year my goal is different. I was accepted to present a session on how to succeed in graduate school. I am part of a group of very talented graduate students from different universities that got this opportunity. Our goal is to give senior undergraduates and new grad students tools that they can use to make graduate school more manageable. This is a very important topic, especially to increase the retention of students in graduate school.
How was I able to fund my trip last year? Since it was my first conference and I was presenting my own research I was able to draw money from different opportunities available in my department, and university. The money I raise here will cover a large part of the air fair, which is the most expensive part of the trip. Every little donation counts and it's greatly appreciated!
