Help Printers Playhouse Survive COVID19

Donation protected

This campaign is being put together by a group of regulars, for whom Printers Playhouse means a lot, and  who would like to ensure that our local community arts hub survives.

100% of funds raised through this campaign will go directly to Printers Playhouse via the GoFundMe assigned beneficiaries system.

Printers Playhouse is a theatre, music venue and workshop space in central Eastbourne. Offering an extensive artistic programme of productions, workshops, actor training and music, this Eastbourne Community Arts Hub provides a safe space for local artists and musicians to share, collaborate, learn and develop new skills.

With the current outbreak of COVID19, and recent advice from the government asking people to stay away from pubs, clubs and theatres, Printers is under threat. The loss of income combined with the need to continue to pay for recurring expenses such as rent means that, following the decision on the 16th of March to close the door for 72 hours to evaluate the situation, Printers is in genuine danger of staying closed.

This campaign is aiming to raise enough funds to help cover the rent for the next six months and ensure that when the government stop advising people to stay away, we can return to our community hub.

Printers' is home to regular live music on Friday and Saturday nights downstairs on the acoustic stage along with frequent ticketed performances in the playhouse upstairs. In addition, Printers Playhouse is home to a host of different community arts groups.

Including:

PPH Community Choir: A friendly community choir that's open to everyone, no auditions required. Meeting twice weekly; on a Monday from 19:00 to 20:30 and on a Friday from 10:30 till 12:00, there's a time to suit any schedule. The choir is led by experienced singing teacher Viv Berry, and performs several gigs a year.

Printers Ukulele Army: Tuesdays from 20:00 till close sees the bar filled with an army of ukulele players. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in (Printers can lend you a ukulele). If you don't know how to play, tuition is provided between 19:00 and 20:00). If you don't want to strum along, you can grab a drink at the bar and sing along.

Open Stage at PPH: On Wednesday nights from 20:00 until close, the stage is open to all musicians, poets, storytellers and comedians.

Eastbourne Comedy Club: Jim Grant's comedy night can be found downstairs from 19:30 on the second Thursday of the month. Free entry.
