Help Plant Circle pull through!

For everyone who’ve been asking if Plant Circle will continue as a business after closing our Berlin offices: yes, we will. But we need your help.

Our decision to liquidate the office was our last attempt to try and save our company. In an effort to turn things around, we decided to completely change our business model, and we started shipping our plants directly from our growers in the Netherlands. For you that meant shorter processing times, better packaging, better quality of plants and lower prices as we cut out the middle man; the wholesalers. For us it meant huge savings on things like stock, packing materials and warehouse rent. Sadly, we also had to let 2/3 of our team go. This has been the most difficult part, as our ambition was always to create more jobs, not cut them.

So here’s the thing: we’ve managed to cut the costs of running by roughly 80%, which is absolutely amazing, but due to the all of the unforeseen circumstances of the past years, we’ve not only accumulated some substantial debt, we also have no money to invest in this business any further.

We have exhausted all our options for loans, and the tax office is breathing down our necks, and if we can’t pay them immediately, they could force us into insolvency.

What we need money for:

20.000€ outstanding vat payments to the tax office, of which 5.000€ has to be paid this coming week

25.000€ open invoices with suppliers

5.000€ outstanding payments to the landlord

So as a last ditch effort, we’re reaching out to our community. We’ve always taken pride in not having any investors, and being able to do everything by ourselves as a small business made up of a handful of dedicated people, but now we’re asking you to be our investors!

With this new business model comes a new set of challenges. During the transition we lost some employees, customers, and also many beloved products and we want to bring them all back.

Unfortunately, this costs a lot of money which we currently don’t have.

Help us develop new products, win back our customers, and most importantly: bring back our staff and ultimately open the retail space in Berlin, which we all so dearly miss.

Whether you’re someone who have bought plants from us, online or in Berlin, attended a workshop or even if you just enjoy going onto our website or blog for plant information… we are asking you to help us reboot our company by investing in it.

Help us continue to be the kind of business that leads the way when it comes to sustainability and fair pay, and is recognised as safe place to work for anyone.

We wish to continue providing you with the best plant care tips, the most unusual plants at the best prices (many more plants are in the lab), and to continue helping to save animals and protect our planet, as have been our mission from the start.
