I was diagnosed with Large B cell Lymphoma in August of ’20. I was hopeful to be in remission within 6 months. In my research I was relieved to find it was a very treatable form. However, back in April (just three months after my last chemotherapy) my Lymphoma returned with more aggression. Even my doctor made a comment that she had never seen it return so quickly.  I underwent another treatment called RICE. This treatment required three consecutive days of chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant. My body rejected it and within 2 weeks I had a heart attack as well as a stroke. When this happened, I had to be sent by helicopter to a nearby hospital where they could properly treat me. Later that day I met with a Neurologist who found that I had lost vision in part of my left eye. Luckily these neural connections are not forever lost, and I am expected to get it back gradually. For now, I cannot drive, and I do not know for how long.

This Past Summer was tough. The doctors were trying to find a solution while taking my current heart attack into consideration. I tried a pill form of chemotherapy at one point, but it had no effect. I was also  in and out of emergency rooms at this time. I began to develop an uncontrollable cough which was the cancer spreading to my lungs. I also had an infection develop over one of the tumors in my groin.

It was not until the end of July that my doctor found that I may be a candidate for CAR-T Gene Therapy. I had to prove my heart could handle it though. Since I was diagnosed, I have made it a goal to change several factors my life that may not be contributing to the quality of life that I want. It really paid off because it was found that my heart was strong enough to handle the treatment.
CAR-T appears to me to be very promising. It does not come without its risks though and I am once again in a life-or-death scenario. The treatment requires me to stay near the hospital facility for at least an entire month. So far, I am on track to receive the cells Friday Sept 17th, 2021. However, the cancer is fighting for its life every day, as it was found that it is spreading to my sinus and I am forming blood clots.

*Me Having My White Blood Cells Removed

The past year has taken a toll on me and my loved ones. I am not able to work as efficiently and have lost my independence to drive. In my profession, I have guilt of placing my workload onto others.

However I am still fighting strong! I have a long life to live and many individuals to share my talents with!  I am confident in this new treatment and am ready to rebecome the person I am! Your donation will aide me in covering housing and medical expenses. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and about my fundraiser.
