Help Paws for Humanity Animal Sanctuary

Paws for Humanity is an animal sanctuary for domestic and farm animals who fall outside the typical parameters of shelters and rescues. We are located just outside Three Oaks, in Southwest Michigan.

Our MISSION is to provide a forever home for our animals, and to provide whatever level of social interaction they enjoy to work with people in support, therapeutic, educational programs. Our goal is to provide the environment for natural connection to allow all to grow and heal together - people helping animals helping people.

From our first group of animals - the 13 Alpacas on the farm we purchased for the sanctuary - who needed a forever home to stay together as a herd, to our most recent addition of 3 Great Pyrenees sisters who had been living on their own in the area for months before being coaxed into a back yard by a family who found it hard to find anyone to take all 3 and promise to keep them together after all they had been through - all of our animals have a story to tell that includes hard times, and someone who cared enough for them to find a forever home for them to find peace and belonging.

As we explain to visitors, we are not a petting zoo. Being a sanctuary, we are entering the animals homes, and we will respect their wishes for social engagement or not. This regard for the animals in relationship is the beginning of the work we do cultivating respect, self awareness, compassion, and empathy which instills responsibility, confidence, and a focus on mutuality with all beings we interact with here - two or four legged.

Please consider donating to our sanctuary so we may grow our programs to include working with individuals, schools, organizations, residential facilities, and to provide the ever growing need for connection between people, and between people and loving animals.

We are currently an all volunteer run organization, and are in great need for funding to continue to care for the growing numbers of animals, cover the necessary vet costs as injury or illness occurs, and the eventual deaths of the older animals we have. We need help to cover operational and facilities management costs, and we are also needing to build a 60x64 frame post building to have an indoor riding arena space for our workshops, equine assisted learning programs, and animal training classes. We currently have to end our work with people by late fall as the colder weather is unpredictable for consistent appointments.
