Help Paschal Jazz go to JEN!

Tax deductible
The Paschal High School Jazz Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Jazz Education Network’s 10th Annual International Conference in Reno, Nevada.  The performance, on the Ballroom Stage at the Grand Sierra Resort, will take place Saturday, January 12, at 11:00AM PST.  Having been selected from entries across the United States and world, Paschal is one of only a few high school jazz ensembles selected for this prestigious honor.  We are honored to represent the city of Fort Worth, and the state of Texas!

We need your help to allow our students the full experience this wonderful opportunity will provide!  Our nearly 30 performers and staff will begin their travels by airplane on Thursday, January 10, from DFW International Airport.  We will then stay three nights at the Grand Sierra Resort Hotel — time that will include rehearsals, our conference performance, and cultural time for our students — before departing the morning of Sunday, January 13.  Additionally, the Paschal Jazz Ensemble is pleased to welcome two additional guest artists: trumpeters Gregory Newman (Paschal alumnus, UNT One O’clock Lab Band) and 3-time Grammy Award Winner, Jay Jennings of Snarky Puppy.

According to their website at www.jazzednet.org, the Jazz Education Network is “a global community that inspires collective improvisation in music, action, and word.  Our annual gathering fuels the conversation as students, teachers, professionals, and enthusiasts connect, learn, and jam to contribute to the distinctive art form called jazz.”  The Jazz Education Network is a global organization dedicated to building the jazz arts community by advancing education, promoting performance, and developing new audiences. Founded by Mary Jo Papich and Dr. Lou Fischer in the summer of 2008, their vision creates profound opportunities such as the one provided to our organization, and their mission statement expresses a true love for enhancing education for our students.  This is something that resonates with the Paschal Band philosophy, and why we are proud to represent our school and community on the international stage.
