Hey everyone,
Thank you for viewing this campaign! I started it for my best friend Danielle MacKinnon Allen who was recently diagnosed with a malignant (cancerous) brain tumor. Danielle is a young mom of two beautiful girls (Aselin 3 and Kinsley 7 months), a wife, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many.
In August, Danielle went to get checked out because she had been suffering from some painful headaches and other symptoms (tremors and vomiting). To all of our surprise, she was sent to Halifax for a week's worth of tests (CT scans, MRIs, biopsy) and now that all of the results are back, they have a clearer picture of what they're facing. Danielle has a Grade 3 malignant Astrocytoma that they've been told is inoperable. She is getting ready to begin a round of radiation (6 weeks) and chemotherapy. She's also currently taking an anti-inflammatory steroid. With chemo and radiation, the intent is to kill current cancer cells and shrink the tumor. This will slow things down but wont eliminate it. The prognosis was worse than they were expecting and they were told that the average life expectancy with this type of tumour is 3 years, but that some people may live longer depending on many factors (age, health, symptoms, etc).
Danielle's attitude and outlook throughout this entire ordeal has been amazing. She is a very strong woman and it's been very inspiring to many of her friends and family. Danielle would be the first one to help out a friend or family member in need. She has a huge heart and has always been very selfless and loving to everyone. She is ready to fight this tumour.

It's our hope that these funds will help with any expenses that may occur as they go through this. Both Terry and Danielle are off work for an unknown length of time. We would hope that Terry, Danielle and the girls will be able to enjoy their time without the worry of work committments and income barriers. They will be exploring alternative treatment options as the doctors they've encountered in Halifax and Sydney weren't able to offer a surgery option to remove the tumor. They have come into contact with a top rated hospital in New York that is cutting edge in technology and prides themselves on challenging procedures. They are going to seek a second opinion and see what treatment is possible. With your help, they'll be able to pursue these alternative options.
