Help Our Valkyrie Ride Again

Hello, I’m Meghan and I’m asking for your help in treating my 2 year old German Shepherd, Valkyrie.

Valkyrie is my protective companion and means the world to me, and 10 months ago, she contracted a rare fungal disease, Cladosprium. We received the official diagnosis in October, and myself and my partner have been treating her with intraconazole since then. During this time, Valkyrie lost weight, muscle strength, and suffered from extreme lethargy, pain, and difficulty doing things she had loved - playing in the yard with her brother, snuggling in bed, and going for walks.

3 weeks ago, Valkyrie’s lymph nodes appeared to return to a normal size and she even began water training to gain back muscle. We had submitted an additional biopsy to confirm her infection had cleared, and during this time, the infection ended up spreading to several vertebrae in her spine. This led to her collapsing in pain and losing much of her mobility on June 17th.

After a CT scan and consultations with both neurologists and internist veterinarians, we were given the option to euthanize Valkyrie or treating her spinal damage.

We have been funding Valkyire’s treatment for nearly a year and suffer from debt, however its always been worth giving this dog love and affection. Even when her legs are weak, she greets us and friends with tail wags and kisses.

Her vets and their staff have all expressed their love for Valkyrie over this time. Valkyrie greets everyone with a smile on and many have commented how she radiates love. She’s a truly special dog.

Any donations given will go completely to treatment. This includes injections of amphotericin through an IV every 48 hours until she completes her 10 doses. These must be given in a hospital setting, and she is closely monitored after each injection. Any donations will also cover medications needed such as intraconazole.

Myself and my family ask of you to please spare anything you can to give Valkyrie the opportunity to live without pain. We are grateful and blessed to have this dog, and we are equally grateful to those who can help with the treatment costs.
