Help our Ukrainian Guests start their new life

Hello friends,

We are fundraising to help our two Ukrainian guests start their new life in Canada. They are from Kharkiv and had to flee their country because of the war with Russia. This is the second time In Andrii’s life that Russia has turned his life upside down.

On May 13 they arrived at the Ottawa airport with no where to go! They had only backpacks with their belongings. Max and I saw Anastasia’s Facebook post saying they had no home or place to go. She is 15, the same age as our middle daughter) . We quickly decided to welcome them into our home. Anastasia has had to be a grown up in many ways to help her father Andrii with Facebook posts/translation.

Andrii and Anastasia are incredibly resilient and positive people. They worked very hard, with much support from many friends and neighbours to get all the paperwork and appointments, job searching, school and house hunting. Really starting from scratch!

Andrii worked in many Hunt club area neighbours yards to earn some money to save for housing. He had a part time job by mid June and a full time job by July 4. They get their first Canadian apartment August 1.

We couldn’t be more proud of our guests (they are part of our family). The time has come for them to move out on their own with not much more than what they arrived with.

Thus we are hoping to fundraise for Andrii and Anastasiia, as these two wonderful people tackle the biggest hurdle, setting up a home. Any help to remove the financial stress for Dad so he may provide his daughter after losing everything to war.

Please help to ensure they have food, housing basics, school basics and some financial security.
