SOS - Save Our Stray!

Tax deductible
UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who donated and shared this story!! We reached our goal (and then some!) and we are blown away by the mobilization of animal lovers who got his story out there.

And because everyone shared his story, we are now in touch with the owners of Sam (AKA Bruno)! We are currently in the process of reuniting Bruno with his family.

We are so grateful for those who went above and beyond to donate even after we reached our goal. All the money raised will go towards his initial emergency vet bill and future check-ups. Any additional funds we may have left over will be deposited into a restricted "Angel Fund" account to help future homeless pets who face similar life-threatening situations. Thank you again to everyone involved for your compassion for the animals.

Last night this dog was involved in a hit & run on Route 23.

He would have not made it if it weren't for the Good Samaritan who witnessed it, wrapped him up in a blanket, and called 911. This stray dog (who we're calling "Sam") was rushed to Cornell University for emergency care by SPCA officers. He spent the night on supportive oxygen and was able to return to the care of the shelter under close supervision this morning.

The shelter staff are now tasked with monitoring his respiration rate every 4-6 hours and will be working in shifts to make sure he is doing okay over night. We are still looking for his owner. He is a sweet, elderly boy who is already trying to escape his crate to cuddle staff members.

We are hoping to raise $3,000 to cover the initial cost of his care and the suspected follow-up costs of his reevaluations. Any amount that you can give can help provide life-saving care for Sam today. And thank you for reading and sharing his story. Your continued support of our shelter allows us the resources to help more homeless pets like him.
