Lomita Little League Field Renovation Project Summary
Navy Field has a long rich history in the City of Lomita dating back to its origin in 1968. A history that resonates with the current community members and past alumni of District 27 Little League. From its inception, Lomita Little League has been a place for reinforcing family bonds, making memories, and enjoying America’s favorite pastime, baseball.
Project Description
After five decades of children playing on this historic community field, the grass surface and landscape have taken on an enormous amount of wear and tear. The worn conditions if not address can become a safety concerns for the athletes. The grass surface is uneven and there are sinking areas throughout the outfield. Additionally the score keeper’s booths and sound system are in need of major upgrading. These projects are all encompassing and will include three new score keeper’s booth, updating the sound systems and conversion to turf in the infields.
Each year Lomita Little League’s operating expenses are paid with money collected from player registration fees and local businesses sponsorship. They cannot support the needed renovations to our facility without a significant registration hike. The projects that we would like to embark on have an estimated cost of close to $60,000 to complete. Currently we are in discussion with a few major donors and have had a number of community members invest countless hours of their time in our fundraising efforts and field improvement projects. However, we need the funds to purchase the supplies to complete these projects. We are reaching out to our extended baseball family and friends to help us restore and renovate this truly community landmark. We request your help in furthering our efforts with a tax deductible donation of $50, $100, $200, or more?
