HELP OUR GRANDMA FIGHT COVID

This is Ana (Yoni) Molina, our grandmother.  She is 75 years old, lives in Venezuela and is fighting against COVID.  She is diabetic and therefore a high-risk patient.

Doctors consider her hospitalisation mandatory, but the treatment is quite expensive and her health insurance does not cover COVID-related emergencies, which means we will have to pay for medical care. We have asked for a budget to hospitalise her at home and in the clinic and it is really expensive. The cost for 5 days of hospitalisation would be $9250.

These prices could change due to inflation in Venezuela and they could be asking for more in the coming days, but we must pay as soon as possible so that we can hospitalise her and help her receive treatment. COVID hospitalisations typically require 2-3 weeks of treatment.

If you ever met our grandmother, you probably already know she is the sweetest, kindest and nicest lady. She has a patience from beyond. She deserves the world and more time in it. We are far from her at this time and this experience is becoming extremely difficult for all of us. Only one relative lives in Venezuela, the rest of us had to leave due to the terrible situation in our country. It truly breaks our hearts, even writing this is one of the most difficult things we have ever had to do. We never thought we would be in this position, but for her we are capable of doing this and more.

Since we do not have the financial source to hospitalise our grandma and the clinic didn’t offer payments plans, we were not able to proceed with the initial plan. Therefore, we had to act quickly and look for other solutions. Unfortunately, we found out yesterday that our uncle, who lives with my grandmother, has tested positive for COVID as well.

We are truly grateful to a family friend who referred us to an ambulatory clinic and a different doctor where our grandma and uncle are receiving treatment.

The treatments our family is getting are still quite expensive as well as the medication. Our grandma needs to receive this treatment for a minimum of 5 days and we are just at the beginning, it is uncertain for how long our grandma will need it. This is why we are asking for your help. Our family is going through a rough time and we would do anything it takes to give our uncle and grandma all the help they need.

AYUDA A NUESTRA ABUELA A COMBATIR EL COVID

Ella es Ana (Yoni) Molina, nuestra abuela.  Tiene 75 años, vive en Venezuela y lucha contra el COVID.  Es diabética y por ello una paciente de alto riesgo.

Los médicos consideran obligatorio su hospitalización, pero el tratamiento es bastante costoso y su seguro médico no cubre las emergencias relacionadas con el COVID, lo que significa que tenemos que pagar toda la atención médica, medicamentos, enfermera, etc. Hemos pedido presupuesto para hospitalizar en casa y en clínica y se nos sale de las manos en este momento.  Solo el costo por hospitalizar 5 días sería $9250.

Estos precios podrían cambiar debido a la inflación de Venezuela y podrían estar pidiendo más en los próximos días, pero debemos pagar lo antes posible para que podamos hospitalizarla y recibir tratamiento.  Por lo general, las hospitalizaciones por COVID requieren 2 o 3 semanas de tratamiento.

Sí alguna vez conociste a nuestra abuela, probablemente ya sepas que es más dulce que el pan, tiene una paciencia del más allá, es muy amable y súper agradable. Ella se merece el mundo y más tiempo en él.  Todos estamos lejos de ella en este momento y se nos esta haciendo sumamente difícil esta experiencia, solo un familiar vive en Venezuela, todos los demás tuvimos que irnos debido a la terrible situación que se encuentra nuestro País.  Realmente nos rompe el corazón, incluso estar escribiendo esto es una de las cosas más difícil que hemos tenido que hacer, nunca pensamos que estaríamos en esta posición, pero por ella somos capaces de hacer esto y más.

Como no tuvimos la fuente financiera para hospitalizar a nuestra abuela y además, la clínica no ofrecía planes de pago, no pudimos continuar con el plan inicial. Por lo tanto, tuvimos que actuar con rapidez y buscar otras soluciones de igual forma muy costosas. Desafortunadamente, ayer descubrimos que nuestro tío, que vive con mi abuela, también dio positivo COVID.

Estamos realmente agradecidos con un amigo de la familia que nos refirió a una clínica ambulatoria y un médico diferente dónde nuestra abuela y tío están recibiendo tratamiento.

Los tratamientos que recibe nuestra familia siguen siendo bastante caros, al igual que los medicamentos. Nuestra abuela necesita recibir este tratamiento por un mínimo de 5 días y estamos recién comenzando, no se sabe cuánto tiempo lo necesitará. Por eso, te pedimos ayuda. Nuestra familia está pasando por un momento difícil y haríamos todo lo posible para brindar a nuestro abuela y tío toda lo que necesiten en este momento para estar bien.
