Help our Day Program get a wheelchair van
York Region Respite Care offers various respite services to individuals with special needs.
It opened in 2017 and our amazing staff has been making a difference in people’s lives ever since.
The company is privately owned (despite the name, it is not run by York Region).
At our Day Program location, we try to enjoy many activities each and every day. Getting out into the community for weekly outings has been a struggle trying to rely on other community services to transport our clients in wheelchairs.
The transportation services we rely on can not get clients to/from the program and to community outings at reasonable times. We are stuck travelling only at very specific times and these times don’t usually coordinate well with the needs of our clients. This leaves outing times cut short and often unachievable.
Our clients would love nothing more than to be included in everything we do...including those in wheelchairs. There are so many barriers they are up against every day to make their lives more enjoyable and inclusive. A wheelchair van to help get them to outings and activities would be a dream come true!
