We have been totally overwhelmed by the response to us sharing our experience over the past couple of weeks. So many people have asked what they can do to support us through this situation which is why we have created this gofundme page.
What we are fundraising for:
South London Laces FC are asking for help to replace £800 worth of pitch fees we are waiting on HIREAPITCH to refund us so we can continue to afford safe spaces to play football for our community of women and non-binary football players.
Our Story:
Two weeks ago, we were kicked off our training venue with one week's notice so they could host a corporate league. This was despite us being based at the facility since summer 2021 and paying £800 upfront for our booking.
Finding safe, accessible and affordable venues in London is extremely difficult. So at a dead end and not wanting to lose our booking fee of £800, we had no choice but to negotiate usage of another facility through HIREAPITCH to keep our club alive.
When we took to social media to share our experience and advocate for better support and access to facilities for women's grassroots football, HIREAPITCH threatened to cancel our booking unless we removed all social media posts. Shortly after recieving this threat our booking was cancelled and we have not yet received a refund of our £800 upfront payment.
Losing £800 is devastating for a grassroots community club like ours. That is why we are fundraising to help us to pay for a facility for the club, ensuring a suitable, safe place to play football and continue our provision for our community of players.
