Help Our Autistic Children Be Understood

Donation protected

We want to raise funds to be able to supply boxes of autism awareness books to primary schools. Each autism awareness box school bundle will consist of 10 books, written by both neurotypical and autistic authors with the view to help children understand autism, the neurodiverse family and how to be a good friend to an autistic person.

The books we have chosen to go into the boxes are:

 1) A Kind Of Spark - Elle McNicoll

 2) Dragon & His Friend - Steve Herman

 3) Can You See Me - Libby Scott & Rebecca Westcott

 4) He’s Not Naughty - Deborah Brownson

 5) The Secret Life Of Rose: Inside An Autistic Head- Rosie & Jodie Smitten

6) Suzie & Cruzie, learning about autism- Charlotte Olsen

7) The Abilities In Me: Autism - Gemma Keir

8) What about me: a book by and for an autism sibling - Brennan & Mandy Farmer

9) Happy Being Me: The adventures of Kit and Fearne - Alison Wombwell

10) My Friend Eddie - Nikki Saunders

We aim to get these books into UK primary Schools in stages - Stage 1 of 14 will look at the primary schools in East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull area.

If you are able to help in any way at all, we will be incredibly thankful and we will keep every-one updated with the progress of each of the stages of the project  through our Facebook page https://facebook.com/autismawarenessbooks4schools (where you will also find alternative ways to help this project  too) and this go fund me campaign

This cause is very important to us because between us we have 8 neurodiverse children.

Both our families,  just as so many others like ours, not only have we have faced enormous challenges from professionals to get the support and understanding our children need but also an incredible amount of judgement, verbal abuse and isolation from friends, family and the general public (long before every-one felt the affects from the covid isolation)

A lot of the issues families face are down to a lack of understanding and this is what we want to change, not just for our  families but for every-one.  We want to help eduacte our future generations so that we can be confident of bringing our neurodiverse children into a society that is truly inclusive; one that embraces differences with knowledge, empathy and compassion.

Please help us make a difference for all of our childrens futures
