Olive’s Wheels and physical therapy

When Olive was born via C-section she developed a hematoma (large pocket of fluid) on her shoulders due to accidental trauma caused by the vet that delivered her. The hematoma was drained after an incision was made, however, as the incision healed it developed scar tissue. After realizing the scar tissue was not going to fix itself as the vet had been telling us, by the time we were able to get Olive to two

specialists the scar tissue had already taken over her shoulder muscles, leaving both of her front shoulders immobile and unable to be operated on.

Olive has adapted well but has a lot of difficulty getting around because she only has mobility from her elbow down in her front legs. Because of her shoulder deformity and her hind legs being normal height, she's developed premature hip dysplasia, thickened joints in her front legs, and severe splaying of her front legs that causes her to fall on her chest whenever she tries to go faster than a slow walk.

In order to slow down any more deterioration to her joints Olive needs physical therapy sessions to try to help strengthen her muscles as much as possible. She will also need a cart to help her walk without falling down and becoming exhausted quickly, and to help reduce the stress on her spine since her legs are different heights. The funds from this will go directly to the cost of her cart and physical therapy sessions.
