Help OffBeat Move and Improve!

Hey everyone, it's Phillip, aka DJ Young Venom. I'm the owner of OffBeat, Mississippi's only Black-owned record store and comic book store. We have been serving the community for 8 years. OffBeat has been an art gallery for young minority artists and a venue for upcoming musicians, comedians, and poets of all ages. In short, a space for people to be themselves. We have some great memories in this building on 151 Wesley Ave. here in Midtown, but we must leave.

We will start anew to become a better space to serve the people who come to the shop. The current fixtures have all been pre-loved, and we appreciate them, but they will not fit the look of the new space and need to be upgraded. Moving isn't cheap either, and it's even more expensive when you have to make upgrades all around the shop. So, I am asking for donations to help with this. We plan to upgrade our counter; build more record bins and better bookshelves; acquire a new ultrasonic record cleaner; get new signage to fit the new space, and more.

We have found a place that allows us to remain in the city and will announce the new location soon. In the meantime, we wanted to thank everyone that has ever shopped in the store or on the website, helped out around the shop, shared a post, left a comment, gave us a shout-out, or attended an event. Thank you. Without your support, we wouldn't be here 8 years strong and ready for more.
