First and foremost, thank you so much for clicking on Nichole "Nikki" Leach's GoFundMe link and taking a moment to read her story. Secondly, please understand that getting Nikki to give us permission to share her story and ask our community for help was not an easy task, but thanks to Holly, aka the Bulldog, Nikki really had no say in the matter. So here we are, here you are, and what follows is a glimpse into the private and vulnerable world of our friend, Nikki, as she prepares for the fight of her life - literally.
Nikki is a mother to two GORGEOUS blue-eyed, blonde-haired angels, Ethan (4) and Hazel (3). She's also a wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, best friend, friend, coworker, property appraiser, mico, carnie extraordinaire, and one of the FUNNIEST, most RESILIENT, and STRONGEST people most of us know and have come to love.
Unfortunately, as of June 5, 2018, Nikki has added "breast cancer victim" to her list of life titles when she was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. The shock Nikki experienced when hearing the word “cancer” was terrifying in and of itself. However, the dreadful realization of the news is combatted with the fact that she received such a diagnosis while being minimally insured. Nikki is fortunate to have been accepted into a community voucher program to help her with life-saving treatment, but reconstruction surgery will not be covered, nor will long-term medical care after her initial lifesaving procedures. In the spirit of full disclosure, those of us that know Nikki best also know she is a little "crunchy," so it comes as no surprise that she will be supplementing her conventional cancer treatment with a holistic twist. Thus, Nikki has made the personal decision to radically change her lifestyle to include a vegan diet of completely organic food with multiple fresh, organic juices daily. Fighting for one's life while not being able to work and pay for uncovered medical expenses, bills, and daily necessities is an additional stress to her ultimate goal: SURVIVING. That is why we need your help!
The support and concern Nikki is receiving from the community thus far, has been OVERWHELMING. So many inquiries have been made how to help her win this battle. Along with an endless supply of love and prayers, the best way to assist Nikki through this incredibly difficult time is through financial support. Every donation received will go to helping Nikki and her family with the cost of uncovered medical expenses (including breast reconstruction surgery) and surmounting bills as she focuses ALL of her strength and efforts on getting better, while Brian juggles the kids, their start-up garage door business, and helping Nikki recover. Fighting cancer is not easy nor is it cheap; however, with your support and her unwavering determination, she is going to do just that, by kicking cancer's ASS!
