Help Nick's Mom Recover From Fire

Nick's mom, Christine Mills, lost her home in Paradise, CA to the Camp Fire in Butte County. Christine is a senior on a very low fixed income who has suffered from several serious medical issues since 1990. We would like to find her a new place to live in the Chico area so she can remain close to her current doctors, who know her long and complicated medical history. 

Christine has already had to move many times over the past few years due to her various conditions and financial difficulties. Her most recent home took six months to find, and she was there only two months before it burned; the fire took everything except her cats and a couple boxes of belongings. 


Christine worked for 30 years as a Critical Care Dialysis Nurse for Davita Dialysis inside of Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA, selflessly serving others in need and saving lives on a daily basis. Now she needs our help. Let's all chip in what we can to find her a safe and stable place to live near all the doctors she needs to see on a regular basis. 

GOAL:
To raise enough hopefully to buy Christine a small mobile home in the Chico area. She could then afford the lot fees, utilities, and general life expenses on her fixed income without stressing month to month. She will also need to replace her clothes, furniture, and other items that were lost in the fire.

How the funds will be used:
$45,000 for a mobile home (we just lost the one we were hoping for but we have a few more leads!)
$5,000 for furnishing and clothes
If we don't make our goal, we can at least hopefully get a down payment together and move forward from there. 100% of funds raised will go directly to getting Christine into safe and stable housing and helping her rebuild her life.

We know some emergency funds will eventually be made available to the fire survivors, but we don't really have time to wait. The housing market in the Chico area was already very difficult before the fire and it's only going to get worse, so time is of the essence.

Some quick details on the fundraising team and how donations will be managed (per GoFundMe's guidelines):
My name (the person who created this campaign) is Stefanie Gesiorski. Nick De Somber, who is one of Christine's children, is my friend and former neighbor here in Oakland, CA. He asked me to help create this campaign since I have done a lot of fundraising for various causes over the years and I write for a living. Nick will link this fundraiser to Christine's checking account and funds will be withdrawn directly into her account.  She will then use the funds to either purchase a mobile home (if enough money is raised) or for a down payment, or (if not enough is raised for a down payment) it will cover a few months of rent, along with replacing clothes, furniture, etc. lost in the fire.
