Our friend Newel needs our help.
Newel Briggs is a beloved member of the Portland music community. His music and his warm and loving spirit have touched the lives of so many of us. He has shared his talents, time, energy and spirit with so many projects and causes over the years. It's time to return the favor. Due to a string of difficult circumstances, Newel and his family are at risk of losing their home.
Newel has been living with cancer for 13 years. He has fought through years of difficult treatment leaving him unable to work full time. A recent long-awaited court decision about his disability benefits fell disappointingly short of his needs and he has fallen behind on expenses. Then came the letter from the bank telling him he is at risk of foreclosure on his home - a home he shares with three generations of his family. And then, just to add insult to injury, his car broke down.
Through it all, Newel's generosity, sense of humor and incredible talent continue to shine a light on everyone who knows him. He could really use some good fortune.
