Give Back for Baxter
Donation protected
Nelson Linscott and his best friend Baxter are well-known and much-loved members of our community. Baxter and his dad have managed to remain here in Kittery despite surviving on a modest disability income, and being evicted from one of the few remaining affordable apartments in town by developers.
Nelson serves our town and those in it without a second thought. Despite his own health challenges and not owning a car, he coordinated efforts last summer to install receptacles for dog waste at both Seapoint Beach and Rogers Park, and borrowed a car in order to empty them himself. He is truly a bright spot in our town.
Now we have a chance to give back. Nelson and Baxter need our help. Baxter recently fell ill and began to have difficulty standing and walking. With the help of a friend he was able to be seen by a vet who diagnosed him with Canine Anaplasmosis (a tick-borne illness), Arthritis in his spine and hips, and also Hypothyroidism, which will require ongoing medication and follow-up visits to the vet.
As anyone with a pet knows, these expenses add up quickly, and are often unexpected. If you have or have had a pet who you love dearly, or just appreciate the goodness that Nelson and Baxter bring to our community, please consider donating. Even a few dollars will help.
