Help needed for a wheelchair accessible vehicle

To say that DJ has been living on borrowed time is an understatement. Being diagnosed with luekodystrophy at the age of 3, his prognosis was a grim 5 years. DJ is now a 13 year old that is in 7th grade at an Abilene middle school. His family doesn’t have a wheelchair accessible vehicle and needs one desperately. The only place DJ can go with his motorized wheelchair is school because the school bus has a lift to accommodate his wheelchair. He doesn’t have the manual dexterity to wheel himself in a manual wheelchair as he has minimal use of one hand and no use of the other. His motorized wheelchair is his legs and lifeline. DJ makes several trips a year out of town to doctor’s appointments and has been hospitalized out of town as well.  His family needs a vehicle that will accommodate his wheelchair. He needs to be able to visit places and see things. He needs the freedom to drive his wheelchair at zoos, carnivals, vacations, sporting events, church and anywhere his family goes. His family recently divulged that at Easter they had a family gathering at a public place, the ramp to load the wheelchair broke and it took 6 grown men to load his wheelchair in their vehicle, follow him home and unload the wheelchair.  Both of DJ’s parents are employed, but recently lost their vehicle after falling on hard times. This child deserves to experience everything life has to offer while he’s still on Earth. My goal is one day when he reaches the pearly gates, he does so exhausted from living a full, happy and active life.
