Hi everyone - my name is Jessie Boyer. My dearest friend Nayna is beginning the biggest fight of her life. All I want to do is sit with her and hold her hand, but that's not an option these days. Setting up this fundraiser is how I can provide concrete help - so don't let me down!
August 11th, 2021 - After discovering a suspicious lump in her breast and getting it checked out at the doctor with mammogram, ultrasound and surgical biopsy, Nayna got the bad new - breast cancer. Even worse, it's the most aggressive type, with high likelihood of becoming metastatic very quickly.
This is devastating news, but with immediate and aggressive treatment, she *can* beat this, and we're going to help her through it. Within the next week, Nayna will be started on 6 months of chemotherapy. That will be followed by double mastectomy, then radiation. This is going to be a hard, hard journey. To add insult to injury, it's going be expensive.
Nayna and Dana (her husband) have insurance through his work, but it's high deductible, high copay, and they've already been struggling to make ends meet as it is. Nayna, a dance teacher, has already lost significant income due to the pandemic, and now cannot teach at all. Dana requires monthly injections to treat his diabetic retinopathy so he doesn't go blind; unbelievably, these require a several hundred dollar co-pay every month. Now this and all the bills it's going to bring.
So for at least the next 18 months, everything will be hard in every way. I would like to see that at least Nayna doesn't have the added stress of worrying about covering the basics and at least some of the medical costs. Many people want to help - if you can, this is the best way, and literally anything helps - even $10 buys some gas to get to chemo. I am setting up the account so she will be directly accessing any funds that comes through this campaign.
Let's do this! And thank you - from the bottom of my heart. Those who know me know how sincere I am when I say I can't bear to see another loved one suffering. Help me turn Nayna's cancer fight into a victory!
