Help Nathan by sending Prayers and Donations

On Wednesday August 23, 2023, Nathan woke up not feeling well. He went into work in the late morning and was able to only work for a couple of hours before having to return home to rest. Nathan woke up from a nap around 6:30pm knowing something was seriously wrong and called 911. Nathan ended up passing out after he made the call and was found laying on the floor by the EMTs. The EMTs rushed him to Corning Hospital with the plan to mercy flight to Robert Packard Hospital for life saving surgery. The Doctor at Corning Hospital said Nathan would not be able to survive and needed to perform the surgery at Corning Hospital. It was determined that his spleen had ruptured and lost over 50% of his blood. They removed his spleen and packed him to try to slow down the blood loss. He was still losing blood almost as fast at he could receive the blood transfusions. Nathan was able to be transported to Robert Packard in Sayre around 5am Thursday, August 24th. The Doctors knew they had to go back in for another surgery on Friday to remove the packing and to close him back up, as long as they could find where he was losing the blood from. When he went in for this surgery, doctors ran into another complication involving his pancreas so his intended surgery was delayed until Sunday (8/27/23). When Nathan went in for surgery on Sunday to close him up, doctors encountered that Nathan’s liver was dying and it was causing his blood pressure to drop dangerously low. Due to this, doctors had to call in another specialist and his third surgery was scheduled for Monday (8/28/23), leaving Nathan’s incision and wound opened. On Monday, the surgeon was able to remove part of the liver that was dying hoping that the part they left was going to be okay. Nathan was scheduled for his fourth surgery today (Wednesday 8/30/23) to confirm that everything looked good and close him up. The doctors ran tests before they performed the surgery and the test did not come back as they were hoping for. Now the doctors are currently looking for a hospital with availability for a liver transplant.

Nate is one of my best friends and he is such a generous and caring man. I know that if I was in a position where I needed help, he would be one of the first people to offer it. The saying, “He’d give you the shirt off his back” matches the exact kind of person Nate is. Nate’s wife, brother and parents are all taking turns to be at his side, but this also comes with financial hardships. I know we are all hurting right now, but if you could help this family by donating any amount to help offset medical bills and allow his wife to be by his side, it would be greatly so appreciated. If you are unable to donate please say a prayer and share this page.

We will continue to update this page below, as as things progress. Most importantly, please send prayers for Nathan and his family! Thank you so much!

8/30/23: 2pm update: We have been told some of Nathan's other organs have been compromised and he is not currently a candidate for a transplant. He now is scheduled for another surgery this afternoon to look around and remove more of the liver if more has died.
