Help my prison pen pal Rick Wright get a tablet

Donation protected
Rick Wright and I became friends after I made this amazing photo of him in 2008. I have been corresponding with him and sending commissary and emotional support through phone calls and letters since he became incarcerated in 2009.

Rick has asked me to see if there are any others (LGBT OR straight) who can either become pen pals or provide a small donation to help him cope with his life sentence and the resultant mental health struggles he faces in prison.

Rick said there is no need to sugar-coat his story, he knows he made a grave mistake (the assault case he was convicted of in 2009 was a third felony (the previous were white collar crimes which he served his time on).

At the time of the attack, he was under the influence of alcohol and though there was a documented attempted assault on an individual over money owed, the victim remained unharmed physically because the police were called and interceded.

Which is not to discount the collateral emotional damage to the victim but just to say that Rick is aware of what he has done and has completed several anger management trainings inside to help him with adult child of an addict anger he harbors.

Rick is deeply remorseful and after my long penpal friendship I can vouch that he is fairly unlikely to become a repeat offender if ever released. He does qualify for and is up for some perole adjustments and is greatful to be in the process of pursuing those amendments formally. (which also takes money).
I have thrown up a fundraiser for him before and thanks to everyone who chipped in then.

At this time there is a fixed goal to help Rick purchase a prison issue ipad priced at about 300+. Myself and a Prison advocacy advocate who is also helping Rick have raised 150.00 already outside of this campaign and are hoping to secure the additional 200.00 or more here through go-fund me. (Prisoners ALWAYS need commissary.... as you likely know, the nutrition and perfunctory tools for survival inside are sorely lacking.)

Rick is employed in prison and is applying for a release. Wish him well in his journey by donating ... no amount is too small. Feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or concerns or DM me if you would like to write him (he would love another regular penpal or two and he is a delight and a gentleman to converse with!)

The level of lonliness that prisoners face is deafening.... things like phone call accounts and texting options are part of the prison reform movement and make a HUGE difference in alleviating lonliness and depression inside.

If you can't take on a penpal today you can make a difference in the prison reform movement by donating to any number of organizations or to a situation like this. I am more than happy to help you find a place to plug in.

I actually correspond regularly with four different inmates because I feel society has turned its back on people inside and I feel its up to us to answer to our own choices regarding this failing societal custom.
