Help My Mom, Beverly With OSCC

Donation protected

My name is Kristi and I am raising money for my mom Beverly.

I am asking you to donate to this cause, one that is very important to me, for my mom who was recently diagnosed with OSCC (Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma).

9 years ago with a chance of .00000001% to get it, she got breast cancer. Thankfully even though she had to get a mastectomy, she never had to get radiation or chemo.

She was completely healthy and fine until a few months ago. Last week she went in for a biopsy and today (as of writing this on Sept 18th) she was diagnosed with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma. As you can imagine it was shocking, sad, and scary.

Because my mom is essentially self-employed and is a caregiver she does not have health insurance and we are both really tight on money right now. I work from home as a freelance writer and struggle myself, but since COVID she has had a tough time finding work as a caregiver.

I would like to raise money to help with:

Medical Bills/Surgeries

Healthy foods and drinks

Vitamins, Nutritional Items, and Antibiotics/pain meds.

Other bills such as rent, electricity, internet, etc.

I will be taking care of her on my own, as I did with the breast cancer. This means healthy homecooked meals, making sure she takes vitamins and medication, and of course making sure she is comfortable and stress-free during all of this.

If you asked me why this cause is so important to me it would probably seem pretty simple; she's my mom and I love her. While that is true, there are other reasons why its also important to me.

My mom has ALWAYS been my light, she's always been my support system, she's always been there for me, as I have been there for her. It's easy to call your mom nice or good. But, in this case, it's x100. She is by far the best person I know and that is evident by the people she has helped over the years, the family she has taken care of, and, well... me. I am who I am because of her.

It's also important to me because my entire life, she has always taken a backseat. She always wants to make sure so and so is healthy and safe and loved - even if they aren't our family.

My mom's calling card as a caregiver never surprised me much. And it also never really surprised me how much the people she took care of loved her and treated her like family. Even years later they kept relationships with her like she was a part of their family. She's just that type of person, her allure, her heart, her gentleness, and her ability to understand people's needs is one-of-a-kind. So I ask that you help me to make her #1. Help me, help her. Allow me to put her first as she has always put everyone else first.

I know that we are going through some tough times right now, but I would really appreciate any potential support that we would receive. Beyond being grateful for any donations we might receive, it would also allow her to be calm about bills and surgeries and costs because of the Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, but it will also give me peace of mind knowing that I can concentrate on her, her health and her getting better, rather than worrying about money or how we are going to pay for so and so thing.

In terms of urgency?  It needs to be taken care of ASAP.

Thank you for your time - and any donations you consider giving.  I'll definitely be doing updates often and as necessary through the process.
