House destroyed by flood in Malaysia – Help my grandmother rebuild her home

Dear friends, family and interested readers,

My name is Fatin Afendi and I started this fundraiser for my grandma in Malaysia. This is my dear 72- year-old grandma, Siti:

My grandma is an independent and caring woman, who spends most of her time taking care of her home. For example, she loves gardening and she is always busy doing daily chores. However, on the 17th of December 2021, disaster struck and a massive flood destroyed many homes across Malaysia. Unfortunately, the flood reached the province of Pahang and completely destroyed my grandma’s house:

Fortunately, my grandma is safe and unharmed. However, the situation is dire, because the flood has caused a severe shortage of food, water and electricity. As such, my grandma and her community are feeling desperate. To provide some context, I would like to refer to this news report:

In an attempt help the victims of this flood, the Malaysian government has provided the ‘Flood relief’ compensation of 1000 ringgit (approximately 210 euro’s). Although this compensation helps a bit, it doesn’t cover the costs of rebuilding a house. In turn, most of the victims rely heavily on financial donations and non-financial donations, such as food, clothes and medicine. Additionally, my grandma is retired and financially dependent on our family members (uncles and aunts).

Through this Gofundme campaign, I would like to ask you: please help grandma Siti with rebuilding her destroyed home. In order to reach the target goal of 5000 euro’s, all donations are welcome and thoroughly appreciated. Firstly, your donation will be made to my Dutch bank account. Afterwards, I will transfer the funds to my aunt’s bank account in Malaysia. My aunt Asmarra will oversee the finances for building grandma’s house. This target may not cover all cost for the rebuild, but will give a jumpstart to the process.

Lastly, please support this fundraiser by sharing this campaign with your friends, family and social networks. Together with your support, our family will make sure that grandma Siti is able live peacefully again in her new home.

Overstroomd en vernield huis in Maleisië – Help mijn oma een huis opbouwen

Beste vrienden, familie en geïnteresseerden,

Mijn naam is Fatin Afendi en ik heb deze fondsenwerving opgericht voor mijn oma in Maleisië. Dit is mijn lieve 72-jarige oma, Siti:

Mijn oma is een zelfstandige en zorgzame vrouw, die het liefste bezig is met haar huis. Van tuinieren tot huishoudelijke klusjes: ze is een bezige bij. Op 17 december 2021 sloeg echter het noodlot toe. Heftige regenval en overstromingen hebben op deze dag grote delen van Maleisië verwoest. Van mijn oma’s huis in de provincie Pahang is helaas niets overgebleven:

Mijn oma is gelukkig ongedeerd, maar de situatie is schrijnend. Geen voedsel, water of elektriciteit: mijn oma en haar gemeenschap zijn verdrietig en radeloos. Om beeld te geven van de situatie in Maleisië, heb ik dit nieuwsbericht toegevoegd:

De Maleisische overheid probeert de schade te compenseren met een ‘Flood relief’ bedrag van 1000 ringgit (omgerekend 210 euro). Deze eenmalige compensatie helpt een beetje, maar het is niet genoeg om een compleet nieuw huis te kunnen bouwen. Hierdoor zijn veel van de slachtoffers alsnog afhankelijk van financiële donaties en donaties in de vorm van voedsel, medicijnen en kleding. Daarnaast is mijn oma gepensioneerd en financieel erg afhankelijk van familieleden, zoals mijn ooms en tantes.

Via deze Gofundme campagne, wil ik u daarom vragen om mijn oma te helpen met de financiering van haar nieuwe huis. Alle bijdrages zijn welkom en worden ontzettend gewaardeerd. Ons streefdoel staat voor nu op 5000,- euro. Uw bijdrage komt eerst op mijn Nederlandse bankrekening te staan, die ik zal overmaken naar de bankrekening van Asmarra: mijn tante in Maleise. Mijn tante zal namelijk vooral de leiding nemen in het bouwproces van het huis voor mijn oma (haar moeder). Het streefbedrag dekt mogelijk niet alle kosten voor de bouw, maar het geeft een vliegende start voor het bouwproces.

Steun deze fondsenwerving alsjeblieft, door deze campagne te delen met uw vrienden, familie en kennissen. Onze familie zal er alles aan doen om ervoor te zorgen, dat oma Siti met een gerust hart kan beginnen aan de heropbouw van haar leven.
