Hello,
My name is Christina, and I am fundraising for Rahmat Mustofa from Mustofa Art.
Mustofa is a brilliant mandala artist from Indonesia. He was born the second of four children in Bandung, Indonesia and currently lives with his wife, daughter, sister and mother-in-law in Pasawahan, Indonesia.
Indonesia's artistic culture is known for its remarkable woodcarving. While Mustofa was growing up, his father's family passed down their unique carving style. You can see these artistic styles in Mustofa's unique and delightful creatures he creates by hand.
While his father's family taught him how to carve, his mother handed him a paintbrush and helped him discover his abilities. Combining these skills helped Mustofa become one of the most talented dotting artists I've ever had the privilege to meet.
I got to know Mustofa better over the past year, and he is a lovely and gentle soul. His shy and modest spirit is endearing and shows through his beautiful work.
In the past, Mustofa has expressed a dream to own his own home one day. His family comes from the poorest part of Indonesia where it is tough for families to advance their economic situation. The impact of COVID has made it more difficult economically for him and his family in the last few years. He felt his dream could never be realized.
A good, solid home in Indonesia will cost him around $10K. This price includes the land, building materials and labor for construction. The home would offer two bedrooms, a studio workspace, a bathroom, and a kitchen (which his family currently doesn't have).
My goal is to raise enough money to help him and his family meet their housing needs thus elevating and supporting them in achieving the dream of owning their own home. It is my hope this will give Mustofa a foundation for creating more art and expanding his craft for years to come.
