Help Mr. Charles Get Back on His Feet

Donation protected
Recently, I went jogging in Nashville despite the hardened snow and slippery ice. An elderly man called out to me from the middle of a huge parking lot and I waved back at him. I assumed he was giving me encouragement for running despite the nasty weather.

On my way back, however, I noticed he was still outside in the cold. He yelled out to me again, more emphatically this time, and motioned for me to come closer. I jogged over to discover he'd slipped on the ice and couldn't gather the strength to push himself up to his feet. I did my best to lift him but I couldn't so I ran to get help. Eventually, I was able to get the local fire department (station #27) involved, and thankfully, with the help of those firefighters and an employee at the building where he lives, we were able to get Mr. Charles into a wheelchair and see him all the way to his comfy leather sofa. The next day I came back to check on him only to find out that he was in the hospital with a broken foot from his initial fall.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I ended up in the hospital unexpectedly and I was shocked when I got my bill, lol. So, I'm hoping this small contribution will help Mr. Charles get back on his feet (literally) without the added stress of a new financial burden.

I will be raising money and awareness for this cause by adding it to my current quest to run at least a mile every single day. So, the next 100 miles of my run streak will be dedicated to raising $1,000 for Mr. Charles.

The day I helped Mr. Charles out of the snow, my mom called it a "divine appointment." I've decided to choose this as my next divine appointment because I'm doing my best to be my own hero. Hope you can help.
