Help Moose get spinal surgery & therapy ❤️

I rushed Moose to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic on December 12th. He was immobile in his hind legs when I woke up to take him out for his morning potty break. And after 5 and a half hours of waiting at the ER for him to be seen, I was given the diagnosis I feared the most- probable IVDD. The doctor at the ER told me I could admit him for spinal surgery there, and he would have to wait 1 - 3 days for surgery and a cost of $7,000 - $12,000 or I could take him home and risk the chance Moose would be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

That night I took Moose home with just pain meds, feeling defeated. But after talking with his primary doctor the next day, he was able to refer me to a veterinary teaching college only an hour and a half away who offer the surgery for a fraction of the cost- $4,400. Along with veterinary laser therapy, an at-home light therapy device and walkabout harness, I'm confident Moose will be able to walk again.

Moose is five years old and he's been a part of my life since he was 8 weeks. He's been my companion during my short, tumultuous marriage and divorce and he was by my side when I got pregnant with my only child. When my son was born he became a guardian for him too- standing guard next to him when he was getting his diaper changed, checking on him in his rocker and taking naps next to me and my son on the couch.

He's been there for me through every life challenge and now I need to be there for him through this injury and help him literally get back on his feet. I owe so much to my little guy, and if you can help I'd be forever grateful!

Moose is currently confined to crate rest and pain medication in the mean time.
