Help Mishcah Get Her Critical Hip Replacement

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Bryan Reid. I am the Pastor of Eden Home Ministries. In 2022, we assisted my niece, Mishcah Hamilton, in getting right hip surgery. Her hips have been deteriorating due to having Chronic Sickle Cell disease. We knew she would also need surgery on the left hip. Well, it is now getting to a critical state for her to do the surgery on the left hip. I am organizing this GoFundMe to assist her with defraying the high cost of the surgery. Here is her story in her own words:

My name is Mishcah Hamilton, also known as MiracleGirl, a Jamaican living with sickle cell disease.

In 2008, I was diagnosed with avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hips, a condition commonly associated with sickle cell disease. Due to reduced oxygen supply to the bones, the hip joints gradually deteriorate over time, leading to increasing pain, stiffness, loss of mobility, and eventually the need for surgical intervention.

As the condition progressed, my right hip became severely damaged. With the help of generous supporters through a previous GoFundMe, I was able to undergo a total right hip replacement. The surgery improved mobility on my right side; however, because my left hip was still affected, I continued to experience challenges with movement and daily activities. Recovery took several months, and I spent most of that time at home, gradually healing and managing what I could. I remain deeply grateful to everyone who supported me during that time.

Unfortunately, AVN affects both hips.

Over the past year, my left hip has continued to deteriorate, and I am now experiencing severe osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and significantly reduced mobility. The pain affects my sleep, limits daily activities, and makes even simple movements difficult. Based on medical assessment and my surgical history, a total left hip replacement is now medically necessary.

My goal is to have this surgery done between the first and second week of April, during the Easter break.

The estimated cost for this surgery and related care is approximately USD $25,000. This amount reflects not only the hip prosthesis and surgical procedure, but also the full scope of care required before and after surgery. Medical expenses have increased significantly since my last surgery in 2022, and the financial burden is one I cannot manage alone.

For transparency, this surgery is being pursued through private medical care. Due to the progressive nature of AVN and my current level of pain and joint damage, timing is critical. Public healthcare options often involve long waiting periods, sometimes extending many months or longer, which could worsen my condition and negatively affect recovery outcomes. Private care allows for earlier intervention, appropriate scheduling, and continuity of care.
This is a major orthopedic surgery and must be performed by an experienced specialist I trust. Ensuring proper surgical care, safe facilities, and structured recovery is essential for a successful outcome.

The funds raised will help cover:

* Hip prosthesis
* Surgical and hospital costs
* Post-operative recovery care
* Follow-up medical appointments
* Physical therapy and rehabilitation
* Medication
* Transportation related to treatment and recovery

Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring me closer to pain relief, improved mobility, and the ability to continue living independently and caring for my son.

As a mother to my son Micah, who is autistic, I carry the responsibility of providing daily care, stability, and support while also managing a chronic illness. Living with ongoing pain and limited mobility can make even simple tasks challenging, yet my son depends on me every day. This surgery is about more than my own healing; it is about restoring the strength and mobility I need to continue caring for him and being fully present in his life. Improving my quality of life also means being better able to support his needs, which is incredibly important to me.

If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping me in your prayers would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you sincerely for your support, compassion, and kindness.
