Help Mike Craig and Family

Donation protected
Mike Craig(Craiger) is in the fight of his life. He has been diagnosed with a form of colorectal cancer. He has vowed to not give up this fight. Anyone who knows Mike Craig knows how determined a person he is.

Our goal is to raise $75,000.00 for The Craig Family, to raise funds for ongoing treatments, and expenses not covered and to assist with James’ and Jacob’s educational expenses. We need your help!

Please donate and pass this along to friends, colleagues, and current and former teammates. We can do this for Mike! We got this Craiger!

Brent White and Mike Glover reached out to me, asking if we could assist the Craig Family and get this message out there to the Hockey community and beyond, so here we are! Thank you very much!

Alicia Hartholt, a former student at Cornwall Collegiate & Vocational School (CVSS) initially started this Go Fund Me as Birthday Present to herself to raise $1,000.00 to assist The Craig Family after hearing Mike (better known to her as Mr. Craig), had been diagnosed with cancer. In Alicia's words, "Mr. Craig was always there for a word of advice, to keep you on the right track, help you in and with your endeavours, even after your high school years were over. It didn't matter if you were having a bad day Mike always made it his job to turn it into a positive." Mike is a very respected Teacher for over 21 years, principally(at CVSS), he is very involved with the Special Olympics Program as a Coach and mentor at CVSS.

Mike has a loving, caring family with his parents Hugh & Bev, and sister Kerri (brother-in-law Ian McDonald) in Kemptville, where Mike was born and raised. His in-laws Gord & Hazel MacDonald, brother-in-law (Ryan MacDonald former OHLer). He has been married to Melissa the love of his life, for 16 years. They have 2 sons, James 14 and Jacob 10.

Who knew, Mike is the all-time leader in games played with Smiths Fall Bears in The CCHL, he attended St. Lawrence University for 4 years.

Craiger is a very respected person in the Hockey Scouting community, out of the Cornwall Ontario area. As most of us know, he has been the Amateur Scout for the Oshawa Generals for Eastern Ontario for over 15 years, scouting such players as Will Petschenig, Daniel Altshuller, Serron Noel, William Ennis and current Gen Mathew Buckley to name a few. Mike was part of the 2015-16 Memorial Cup Championship run, under Owner Rocco Tullio, GM Roger Hunt and Head Coach DJ Smith, the current NHL Head Coach of the Ottawa Senators. His Hockey connections are far and wide including current NHL Head Coach of the Dallas Stars Pete DeBoer.

Craiger’s Dad Hugh Craig(Kitchener Rangers Eastern Ontario Scout), a legend in Scouting circles, has mentored Mike, allowing him to have a very successful scouting career and into the future!

When Mike Glover(Windsor Spitfires Eastern Ontario Scout), former OHL Player, heard about the cancer diagnosis, after battling a rare form of cancer himself and fighting it. He wanted to give back and help the Craig Family, he knew how much words of encouragement and support meant to him during his fight and continues to do so, to this day! He immediately suggested a Go Fund Me page. He speaks regularly to Craiger, encouraging him, and being a sounding board, mentor and genuine friend! Every OHL Scout in Eastern Ontario is behind him, supporting him and his family, buying baseball caps named “Mikes Army”.

Mike has selflessly helped and assisted so many students, Special Olympic Participants, OHL and Minor Hockey players, too many to count. Mike has impacted and enriched so many lives!

Your support is appreciated beyond words!
