Help Mike and Kiah after Kiah's Surgery

Hey everybody this is Kiah and most of the story I'm about to tell you will be from my perspective. 

On October 27th, 2020 I went in for an abdominal hysterectomy and at some point in the surgery, my bowel was nicked by 1 cm. I spent two days in hospital.  On the day that I was to be released (October 29th, 2020), I started to get really sick really fast. Because of the perforated bowel (1cm) I was going into septic shock. It is apparently amazing I went into septic shock that fast as it usually takes time to develop. I am very thankful I went into septic shock at the hospital and not at home as I feel like the outcome would be drastically different.  After going for emergency surgery they cleaned me out and gave me a temporary ileostomy bag. I hate it but know it’s temporary and needed. 

The next period is really fuzzy as I was in the ICU on a ventilator for 4 days. At some point, I started going to respiratory failure and they were worried about the amount of fluid in my body. I was told that I pulled out some of the tubes attached to me multiple times. They had to put these glove things on (so warm) and then they tried restraints. 

If you were to ask me what I remember I would have to say that I don't remember roughly 1 week of my life. My last clear memory was checking into the hospital for the hysterectomy. 

After the ICU I got moved to the regular floor and was there until Number 19th, 2020. Yes, that means I spent 24 days in the hosptial.  

I'm home and getting: antibiotics through my PICC line, home PT/OT, and nursing help. 

Because of my ileostomy my diet is very specific. It's hard to explain but think of a lot of blan and boring food. And I have to eat all the time and it's a lot of food. They want me to shoot for 80-100 grams of protein a day.  

At some point in the next 6-8 months I have my ileostomy reversed. That will include a 3-5 day hosptial stay.

I wanted to say thank you for being so willing to make food for us, but things changed drastically and this is where our biggest need is at the moment.
