Safe Housing for a Blind Woman Facing Homelessness

Donation protected
Michelle is legally blind, has limited mobility, and is currently experiencing homelessness. She is staying in a rooming house while working to secure permanent housing.

She has been awarded an emergency Section 8 housing voucher that will cover her rent once she is housed. However, the voucher does not cover the upfront costs required to move in. To secure an apartment, Michelle must pay a security deposit and a guarantor fee due to limited credit, which is the final barrier preventing her from getting housing.
Stable housing is also critical for Michelle’s health. Because she is not mobile, she cannot receive consistent home health services in her current situation. With proper housing, medical providers would be able to come to her to deliver necessary care, including wound care and specialized treatments such as hyperbaric therapy. Her ongoing wound care issues are a major reason she is unable to move independently.

Michelle worked for over 40 years before medical conditions made it impossible for her to continue working. Funds raised will go directly toward the required deposit and guarantor fee so she can secure housing, regain stability, and receive the medical care she needs.

Any support or sharing of this fundraiser is deeply appreciated.
