Help Michelle & Miles have their dream wedding
Miles and I met through mutual friends in 2014 and started a relationship in 2016. We have been living together at Miles’ mum’s house since 2017 because we cannot afford a place of our own. We have always spoken extensively about the future and have always planned to get married and have a family.
In March 2019, at the age of 24, Miles was diagnosed with an aggressive form of double hit lymphoma, which is an uncommon subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. He was treated with chemotherapy as an inpatient for 3 months and were told that Miles may be infertile due to the treatment.
Whilst in hospital, Miles proposed and the wedding date was set for June 2021. He went into remission in July 2019 and life went back to normal, Miles went back to work and we started saving towards the wedding.
Two months later we got the devastating news that the treatment wasn’t successful and he relapsed. He went through 2 cycles of stronger chemotherapy and an autologous stem cell transplant in January 2020, during which I spent 6 weeks sleeping by his side in the hospital. We were planning on getting married in May 2020, however Covid hit and we couldn't go ahead. We postponed until August.
Two months later Miles had relapsed again and was offered Car-T cell therapy, which meant spending 2 months in Bristol, away from all of our friends and family, and postponing our wedding again.
We thought the Car-T cell had been our miracle, as Miles was feeling much better and his doctor in Bristol said he had less then a 10% chance of relapse after he had been in remission for 12 months. Unfortunately, he was one of the 10%. We found out in May this year that Miles is now terminal. Without treatment he would only have two weeks to live. Luckily, he is currently undergoing Radiotherapy, which should give him a bit more time.
We have re-booked our wedding for the 24th June and are hoping that we can have the day that we always dreamed of.
