Help Mercedes' Medical Costs

On the evening of Friday, August 12, our beloved Mercedes was one of 4 teens shot at a college going away party at Ron Regis Park in Renton. She was rushed to a nearby hospital by her boyfriend and then transferred elsewhere for surgery. She suffered a shattered femur, and more surgeries are expected before she recovers. We are grateful she wasn't more severely injured; however, the trauma of that evening will continue to live with all of us, especially M.

Unfortunately, insurance only covers so much, and we expect multiple surgeries and many days of hospital stays. Out-of-pocket costs are estimated to be about $50,000, and this is where we hope our community will be able to pull in for support. Funds raised will help cover M's hospital and surgery costs as well as after care. Anything helps, sharing especially.

It is reported that officers located over 100 casings, and at least 2 guns were in play. They are still searching for the suspect(s), and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Renton Police.

Our hearts go out to all the teens hurt during this incident, especially the two critically injured; our thoughts and healing energy go out to them and their loved ones.
