Help Melinda in Her Battle for Life

Hi, my name is Lucas, and I am fundraising for Melinda. Melinda is my wife and the mother of our 3-year-old little girl. She was recently diagnosed with late-stage cancer that required us to stop working and travel out of state to seek the most aggressive and immediate care in order to try to save her life. We are fundraising to help her cover expenses that will not be covered by insurance.

Melinda has always been very healthy and cared for her body well. Her cancer diagnosis has been a shock to everyone who knows her, especially because she had no symptoms or abnormal tests until the cancer was in stage IV. Up to the month leading to her diagnosis, she was still running a hundred miles a month and doing tons of yoga and HIIT training.

Melinda is an amazing mother to our wonderful 3-year-old who is the light of her life. We had a very long and difficult fertility journey, and in the end, we were blessed with a perfect little angel. We have spent the last three years focused on doing everything to help our little babe grow and dreaming of all the fun and adventures that are waiting for us as our daughter gets bigger and bigger. One of the hardest aspects of our cancer journey so far is the possibility that our little girl could lose her mom. A mom who is her whole world.

Melinda is a very successful mental health counselor. If you could meet her clients, they would tell you wonderful stories of who she is and how she has helped them. She has worked with people of every background and psychosocial need. From couples in marriage counseling, to teens with depression and suicidality, to people with schizophrenia, and so much more. Melinda had a vision for her life and that vision was to help others, not only in her profession but in her day-to-day life. She worked tirelessly as a CNA to pay her own way in receiving undergraduate and master's degrees. Since completing her education, she has been operating a private practice helping people from Texas to Colorado. It is so hard for Melinda to not be working with her clients while she focuses on her health.

She loves to read and is always working to learn about new therapy methods and expanding her knowledge base. She is a Murderino and loves a good mystery, especially if the bad guy gets caught.

Melinda is one of the kindest and most selfless people you could ever meet. If you could talk to some of her friends and family, they would tell you that her compassion knows no bounds, and her willingness to sacrifice herself for the ones she cares for is borderline pathological.

We are so thankful for the many friends and family who love Melinda. I’m not surprised by how many people have been touched by Melinda - people who adore her and who are putting every ounce of energy into praying and wishing for her recovery.
