Help Me Save Sir Balthazar

Whenever I'm spending a lot of time with Sir Balthazar, I start getting choked up realizing our days are limited (due to his hyperactive thyroid and poor response to the medication)...And the next step is Iodine Radiation Treatment...a $1500 to $1800 procedure.

I know I've only had him for 5 years (he was 10 when I adopted him) but it's like he's the perfect, most mellow cat that bonded with me immediately upon adoption. It's like when we saw each other at the Humane Society, we knew we'd be together-perfect for each other...I got him at a "less adoptable animal" drive because of his age. The best $15 I've ever spent and probably will ever spend. I keep telling him no one is going to replace him...no one...because I don't think there will ever be a better cat or best friend.

I should be grateful he's lasted this long in good health (he IS 15 after all...but super healthy at the moment) but I can't help but think "What if..." (I was able to afford his thyroid treatment--I have some money saved but no where near what the oncologist wants). And it's like he knows his time is limited and that I REALLY tried to figure out a way...he's been giving me the best cat memories since his diagnosis. **wipes tears**

But as I'm always telling my friends with loss, no matter how much time you spend with your loved ones, it will never be long enough. However if you could please donate, you can extend the amount of time Sir Balthazar and I have together by at least 5, or maybe even 10 years...which is a long time in cat years. 

If we make the goal, the funds will go towards his inital consultation with the oncologist, his treatment with radioactive iodine which will shut down his hyperactive thyroid, his week stay at the oncologists complete with labwork and care.  He's already lost half a pound in ten days time...so time is of the essence.

If we don't make the goal, the funds will go torwards giving him the best quality of life until his thyroid overtaxes his other organs, paying for putting him to sleep, and his cremation.

I would be most grateful in ways I cannot express in either situation as I feel that my limited income makes giving him either of these choices impossible.  As I live alone, I'm greeted by his fuzzy face every morning, when I return from running errands, and every evening.  He brings life and warmth into my home.
