Help me obtain my injections so I can live and see the world

My name is Aziz Rizk, and I am writing to you as a concerned father seeking urgent medical assistance for my 7-months-old son, Jayden. Jayden was recently diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a shocking and challenging diagnosis for our family.

Last month, our fears were compounded when Jayden was hospitalized. After a full diagnosis was completed, the doctors informed us that the level of care and treatment Jayden required was beyond what they could offer. With heavy hearts, they advised us to take him home, as they were unable to provide any further care. Jayden is home on CPAP & NG tube for feeding with stable condition for now.

This has left us feeling helpless and desperate for a solution. In the wake of this devastating news, I embarked on an exhaustive search across all available healthcare facilities in Lebanon for treatment options and necessary medication for Jayden. Unfortunately, our efforts were met with disheartening news; it appears that the specific medication Jayden requires is not available in Lebanon

During my relentless search for a solution, I came across an article in The National Newspaper UAE, which mentioned that the Pediatric Neurology Clinic at AJCH has access to SMA GENE THERAPY that could be pivotal in Jayden’s treatment. This information ignited a glimmer of hope within our family, leading us to believe that this treatment might be the lifesaver Jayden needs.

Due to the gravity of Jayden's condition and the urgent need for this treatment to significantly impact his quality of life, I am reaching out to kindly request your assistance in obtaining this medication.

We understand that international medical coordination can be complex, but we are prepared to comply with any requirements and procedures necessary.

The treatment will cost 2.1 million USD and we are working on raising that capital. Meanwhile, Jayden needs injections (syrup) every 70 days till he is able to obtain the final treatment. Each injection costs roughly 14,000 Canadian dollars and it is with a heavy heart that I ask for your help. We are raising for 3 injections (to buy Jayden enough time while raise the 2.1 million USD)

Update as of 21 April 2024: Since we have been able to raise the initial amount to buy the injections, we are now trying to raise for the ultimate goal and that is the treatment that costs 2.1 million USD.
