Help Me Go Pro - Become a Sponsor

Donation protected
Friends, family, supporters, community, and loves,

I have super exciting news - I made it into the Big Air Kite League competition Lords of Tram in Gruissan, France! I am going to be the first openly LGBTQ+ kiteboarder competing on the world stage. Whoa.

I am not a sponsored team rider with travel allowances, so I wanted to offer you the opportunity to fill that role.

While this is an incredibly exciting time for me, it’s also scary, intimidating, and... expensive. I want to start by thanking you for even making it this far in considering supporting this endeavor. I leave for France in less than 3 weeks. Amongst other expenses, I also have to purchase two more kites to ensure that I am prepared for any and all big air conditions. New kites! How exciting. Let’s not talk about how much it will cost.

Typically a team rider is supported by a brand in that they have their trip and entry fees paid for. Unfortunately, I’m not that cool yet, but I’m working on getting there. I am also working on the art of asking, which isn’t always easy for me.

If you can forego a cup of coffee this week and spare me that $5 you would have spent, that would be kick a**. If you are in a position to be able to support more, you can go to sleep tonight knowing you showed up to support a broke aspiring pro kiteboarder who you can cheer on during the event live stream.

No matter the amount, I will be forever grateful for the support in helping me live out my dreams of becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ pro kiteboarder in the world (as far as I am aware of, please correct me if I’m mistaken). If you have any extra this week, month, year and are looking to support someone chasing a dream, this is your chance.

Thank you again for any and all help. While I can’t promise that I will win, I can promise that I will show up and try my best to represent the best sponsorship team a girl could dream of. Below you will find a guide of what your support might go toward:

$5 - Glass of French wine (You know you want one too)

$10 - Charcuterie tray (Because we all know how many snacks I eat)

$15 - Dinner for a night (Notice the first 3 are food related?)

$25 - Car rental day (I can’t walk to the comp with my gear #adulting)

$50 - Airbnb night (Can’t I just sleep in the rental car? Maybe… No?)

$80 - Health insurance (Adulting… again)

$125 - Competition entry fee (Well, this is kind of necessary, dang)

$200+ - Answer E - All of the above (Aka besties! Not that we weren’t already… #loveyou)

$x,xxx - Kite gear needed for comp, message for details (No really, don’t. You don’t want to know. Just be happy with besties)

If you send $1 or $1,000 please send me your address via Facebook or Instagram messenger so that I can send you a postcard from France!

With love,

Michaela aka Mika, formally known as Shorty, Nugget, Mic, etc…

P.S. Any additional funds raised over which needed for this trip, will go toward future competitions (there is another tour stop in Cape Town coming up) or gear necessary to continue pushing the limits of big air.
