Help me get out of Mental Health Debt
Donation protected
Hi, it's Kenzo and I'm in recovery for lifelong depression and I need your help.
I have just been discharged from a full time psychiatric program through the group Compass. It's been an amazing program that utilizes Dialectal
Behavioral Therapy to help mentally ill people like myself uncover traumas and work through living a values-driven life with them.
After a decade in therapy where I was spinning in circles, I finally found a program that showed me that my deepest issue was that I did not like myself and would chose behaviors that were harmful to me to deal with this self-hate.
What drove me to a breaking point was a year of staying indoors due to COVID and being a caregiver to my wife Erin, who has stage 4 breast cancer. On top of that, working with students who were carrying their own heavy loads of trauma made each day unbearable.
So I took a leave of absence for a semester (I'm a high school teacher) and dove headfirst into the healing arms of Compass for 8 weeks. I now want to share what I learned with other hurt people and start the healing process for others. So I've decided I'm going back to school to become a licensed social worker. I'm going part time when I return to work, and if possible, go full time next year.
This is where I need your help. Even with "good" insurance, my Compass bill has become a major setback to my newfound dream of becoming a social worker. Please help by donating some money to help me pay my medical bills, which will free me up to pay tuition for a class on Trauma and Recovery in the spring.
Anything you can give will truly help.
Peace and Gratitude,
Kenzo
