Help me get music-friendly hearing aids
Donation protected
IMPORTANT: I have an appointment in two weeks to discuss hearing aid pricing, so the fundraising goal is subject to change. If the fundraising goal changes and we accidentally go over what I need, all excess donations will go towards necessities like a warranty to protect the hearing aids, cleaning supplies and batteries.
Hi there, my name is Emi, and I have severe hearing loss in one ear and light to moderate hearing loss in the other. I'm also a music therapy student hoping to graduate and become a working music therapist. I currently use hearing aids provided by the NHS. However, they are not the best hearing aids for my specific hearing loss and are calibrated for speech instead of music, so all the music my clients and I play sounds tinny, thin and unpleasant through the hearing aids.
There are hearing aids that increase the quality of sonorous musical sound compared to the NHS hearing aids, and they can be set up to better suit my hearing loss. However, these are very expensive. A few years ago, I was quoted ~£4000 for the ideal hearing aids.
A very kind friend recently offered to pay half the price of my ideal hearing aids as long as I could raise the other half. Not only would this increase my day-to-day life by increasing the quality of my hearing, but it would bring more quality to my musical experiences. This would heavily affect my mental health and quality of life as a musician who has dedicated their life to music.
Thank you so much for reading and for helping me get the hearing aids I need.
